It is strange to be in KL and surrounded by a group of Malaysian who speaks French and very little English. All the students are trained to be French teacher. They are going to France for 3 years language studies in this coming September. The students read a lot of french literature, but they are unfamiliar with French cinema.

Our beloved handsome documentary filmmaker, Zan Azlee talked to the IPBA student about "Solo Journalism". He started the class with " Comment allez vous?" That was the only phrase he know, from the french class he took when he was 12.
Zan had been making a few documentary all by himself. Last year, Zan went to the Middle East and make a documentary called " I'm Muslim Too!". He is also an international correspondence for Al-jazeerah.
The idea of solo journalism is new in Malaysia, but much more practiced in the international broadcast world, including CNN. A solo journalist is the producer, reporter, cameraman and editor all by himself. This means things are done faster, cheaper, and often more personal.
