CINEMART   by admin

Deadline: 1st September 2010

CineMart was the first platform of its kind to offer filmmakers the opportunity to launch their ideas to the international film industry and to find the right connections to get their projects financed. Launching about 35 new projects in need of additional financing, CineMart also heralds an important start of the 'film year'.

Every year, the CineMart invites a select number of directors/producers to present their film projects to co-producers, funds, sales agents, distributors, TV stations and other potential financiers.

CineMart Trademarks

One of CineMart's trademarks is the highly productive, yet informal atmosphere. In order to maintain such an environment, the number of projects is kept to around 35 and the invitation process is selective. The four-day event takes place concurrent with the IFFR and shares its location with the festival centre, De Doelen, in the heart of Rotterdam.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Selection Criteria:

The main criteria for selection are the viability and quality of the plans and the demonstrable talent of the directors and/or producers.
The projects can be in all phases of production, but they have to be new or recent and not have explored all possible avenues of financing.
A project should not have been presented at any other market or festival, except when linked to one of CineMart's partnering organisations.
The CineMart is open for film projects:

That are feature films with theatrical potential (minimum length of 70 minutes)
From all parts of the world
In all stages of production, from script to rough cut
For which a complete screenplay will be available during CineMart
Which are new or recent and have not yet made the round of all financiers and other festivals & markets
For which there is a potential international market
With artistic and other special qualities by demonstrable talented film makers
Which have a producer and a director attached, preferably producers or directors who are deemed capable of getting films off the ground
Specific Conditions:

There is no entry fee for applications
None of the submitted materials can be returned to the sender
Once a project has been selected, one representative should be present during the 4 days of the market
CineMart requires a line or the CineMart logo to be taken up in the credits of the film once finalised. The following sentence should be mentioned in the credit list: "[film title] has been presented at the CineMart of the International Film Festival Rotterdam". The CineMart logo can be sent upon request.
How to apply / entry submission deadline:

Projects for CineMart 2011, which will take place from January 30 - February 2 2011. The deadline for submission is September 1st, 2010 (Online Entry Form + required materials).

In order to make a sound selection, the CineMart expects applicants to provide:

Statement of the director on the project

For Cross/Trans Media Projects:

Cross/Trans Media Projects
At CineMart 2010, Simon Pummell's Brand New-U and at CineMart 2009 Lance Weiler's project HIM were successfully presented in the official selection of CineMart. These cross/trans media projects generated a lot of interest from the professionals that attended CineMart. Furthermore HIM won the ARTE France Cinema award 2009.
Because of this success, CineMart would like to continue this movement in 2011. Therefore we would like to invite producers to apply with a cross/trans media project.

Applications should include all the above requested documents. Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration for selection.

The chance of making successful contacts during CineMart in case of selection is increased by a clear presentation of the project and the concrete description of the participation sought.
