"Why I wanted to do camera work, well i guess it finally answered all the things that i've been wanting to know and wanting to do since young. I got my first manual camera when i was 11, it was a lost first love - reunited. I guess it's the sense of rebel instilled, we make films to show our disatisfactory, or have something to share. It was music for me at first but, Film was the ultimate goal. How i really started making film? I guess it was that one step of Let's try and consistency that had kept it going.." Albert said.

THE CINEMATOGRAHER

Albert Hue was born on 11th December 1976 in Kuala Lumpur. He had directed a few short films, the most recent being "117" and "Follow Me". Currently he concentrate mainly on cinematography. He is very good at utilising minimum resources and working with available lighting, and yet manage to capture nice atmosphere of a scene. Hence he is the favorite cinematographer of many independent and documentary filmmakers. Another reason many filmmakers love to work with Albert is because he is really a fun person to be with. He always give the air of easiness to the production team.

He was the cinematographer for "Chemman Chaalai" by Deepak Kumaran Menon, "The Bird House" by Khoo Eng Yow, and recently "Flower In The Pocket" by Liew Seng Tat. He is a close collaborator with Amir Muhammad, which he was the cinematographer for the last three films of Amir: "The Last Communist ", "Apa Khabar Orang Kampung?" and "Do You Remember the 20th Day of September?"

He was also the cinematographer for many short films, including A Tree in Tanjung Malim by Tan Chui Mui, and Man In Love by Liew Seng Tat.

BORN A REBEL

Albert was a rebel in school and had always hated school. Which explains why he didn't sit for SPM. He went through 2 school in primary and 3 school in secondary. He'd always wanted to be an actor, singer or writer which none of these courses could be found in Malaysian education in early 90s, so the closest option was to study graphic at a local college. He left the college after 3 months, thinking "I'm here to learn to be a graphic designer, not to learn how to draw a leaf!" Last he heard, the college shut down.

GREW UP AS A RAPPER

Albert said that all he wanted was to be in the Arts, his earlier influence was the African American and American Culture. He joined a now defunct rap group Krash Kozz (circa 1995) after the manager spotted him in a Rap Competition held at Central Market. It was indeed the first and the last Rap Competition ever held. The group only managed to sustained for 1 and a half year, it got disbanned and Albert co-founded Naughtius Maximus, malaysia's first ever gangsta rap group that got banned soon after our album was released. He was 19. After having not getting any support from the government, due to it's 'Budaya Kuning' policy, and of course everyone needs to "earn a living" he concerntrated on DJing, which he had been doing on a part time basis since 17.

FOUND HIS LOVE IN CINEMA

Albert's career in DJing lasted for 5 years, soon when he was 22, he was offered to host a local teenage magazine program and it was from then he was exposed to the TV and Broadcast industry. Started of as a PA for the Production House after knowing that Hosting was not something he see himself doing in the near future. And worked his way up to the Series Producer's Post producing local teenage magazine and travel program in span of 7 years.

It was in 2003 his career took a change and he decided then to concerntrate on camera work, eventhough then he was still in producing.
