Over the last 11 years, Pusan International Film Festival has focused on promoting Asian cinema and discovering new talents in young Asian filmmakers. 12th edition of Pusan International Film Festival will take step further to be a window for Asian cinema with newly born financial supporting program, Asian Cinema Fund. It is integrated with existed supportive funding system to offer Asian filmmakers more chances to make high-quality films and to enhance their artistic creativity. Also, this continuous supporting program is to build network among Asian filmmakers and stabilize the identity of Asian cinema in a long run, and it will establish the Asia's own color as well as variety in cinema within.
Asian Cinema Fund consists of integrated matching fund amounting approximately to 800,000,000 won (US$880,000) and is expected to create various functions of network among Asian film communities. It is categorized as pre-production, production, and post-production to open possibilities to connect between different stages of productions. Asian Cinema Fund also offers opportunities for projects in post-productions to work with established post-production companies in Korea.
◈ Categories of Asian Cinema Fund
1. Script and Project Development
● Four Asian projects: 10,000,000 won per each
2. Independent Features in Post-production
● Asian Projects
- Post Production Sound & Digital Intermediate Process (including Inter Native & A
Print) for two projects
- Digital Intermediate Process (including Inter Native & A Print) for two projects
3. Documentary Projects (AND Fund)
● Asian Projects
- Two projects: 10,000,000 won per each
- Six projects: 5,000,000 won per each
◈ Eligibility
Any filmmakers from Asia are eligible. Please see below for detailed information.
1. Script and Project Development: Projects with completed script or in process of script-developing
2. Independent Features in Post-production: Independent feature in HD, SUPER 16MM, or 35MM
☞ The post-production for those who are selected will be completed at designated
company in Korea. Air-travel expense and hotel accommodation for up to two people per project will be paid by ACF.
☞ Editing of the project must be done before post-production process. Music and English subtitling are not included in post-production support.
3. Documentary Projects (AND Fund):
- Documentary film project in production or post-production that is more than 50 minutes in length
- Short documentary film project in production or post-production that is less than 30 minutes in length.
- A director who made more than one documentary film.
☞ Documentary for TV is not applicable.
◈ Selections will be made on
- how creative and realistic
- portfolio of your previous works
- professional background and credibility of director and producer
☞ Selections will be limited to features for film and documentary (not for TV use)
☞ Selection committee will make selections after reviewing application and portfolio (The result will be individually notified a month after the application deadline)
☞ Those who are selected for the funds will sign a contract after agreement on ACF regulation.

- A rough cut sample in VHS or DVD edited to about 20 minutes.

- Director's portfolio in VHS or DVD

☞ Applications must be filled out in English and all the materials must be mailed to the address below.
