Tan Chui Mui won another award with her short film 'Everyday Everyday' in Artfilm fest, Slovak Republic. " Thank you very much for the prize. If I don't talk sense, that's because I just arrive from Malaysia. It took me 15 hours. ( I am glad I don't need to collect a prize in Peru. ) It is always nice to get a prize once in a while, since a director need reassurance every once in a while." said Chui Mui in the award ceremony. She didn't lose her sense of humour after so exhausting a flight and made jokes with the audience, in the award-winning short film, the heroin says that Peru is the farthest country from Malaysia.
A few screenings featuring Tan Chui Mui's short films had been held last month at several avenues, 'Everyday Everyday' is one of the short films in the compilation named "All My Failed Attempts". It had also won grand prize in Clermont Ferrand Film Festival early this year.
Besides working on her much anticipated second feature "The Year without a Summer", Chui Mui also appointed as one of the judges for BMW shorties; she is also invited by International Film Festival Rotterdam to join their special programme "Forget Africa Project". The Forget Africa project is a quite daring enterprise, International Film Festival Rotterdam has invited ten talented, innovative and internationally orientated filmmakers to experience and film the living in Africa. The findings will be presented in Rotterdam next year. Tan Chui Mui will go to South Africa for the filmmaking project next month.
