Tribute to Amir Muhammad in 44th Pesaro Film Festival. AKOK promo

Introduction of Amir Muhammad
Amir Muhammad (1972) - a Muslim of Malaysian-Indian origins with a striking sense of humor and irony – has asserted himself in recent years among the new leading figures of the cultural scene, before becoming a director even, of the Malaysian capital: Kuala Lumpur (nicknamed the "big durian"). He is among the initiators (or, rather, inventors) of The Little Cinema of Malaysia, one of the most interesting and lively "movements" to have come from the commercialization of digital video cameras in Asia, as well as the most international and simultaneously “Malaysian” of the young filmmakers from Kuala Lumpur.
In just seven years, Muhammad has made eight feature films (two of which were banned in Malaysia) and a cycle of six short films (6horts, 2002). This tribute marks the first international occasion to see all the films of a director who with just a few others is heralding a new season of Malaysian cinema.
