This year's Prince Claus Film Fund Grant has been awarded to Malaysia director Liew Seng Tat for his next feature project "In What City Does It Live?".

Liew, in Rotterdam competing in the VPRO Tiger Awards competition with "Flower in the Pocket", describes his new project in development as 'an original and humorous approach to superstition and racism in a small Muslim village' with a plot that sees 'a haunted house and an African immigrant upset a traditional community.' Liew presented the project with his regular production company, Da Huang Pictures.

With the aim of encouraging filmmaking in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Euro 15,000 grant was awarded by jury members Rene Mioch (The Netherlands), Susanna Harutyunyan (Armenia), Garin Nugroho (Indonesia), Simon Field (UK) and Karim Traidia (The Netherlands). Last year's winner was Raya Martin for Independencia (Philippines).

This is the second award for Malaysian in 37th International Film Festival Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Ho Yuhang's short film was awarded the Tiger Award for Short Film on the 28th Jan.

Da Huang Pictures production "Flower in the Pocket" is competing for the VPRO Tiger Award. The film received very good respond from film critics and festival audiences.

The 3 Tiger Awards will be announced on this Friday, 1st February 8pm. The VPRO Tiger Awards Jury, consisting of five international professionals, Jafar Panahi, Royston Tan, Rieks Hadders, Renata Litvinova, and Tiziana Finzi, will hand out three VPRO Tiger Awards (Euro 15,000 in cash each).

In order to show the winning films to the widest possible audiences, the prizes further consist of a guaranteed theatrical distribution in The Netherlands as well as airing by Dutch broadcaster VPRO.

Flower in The Pocket is still showing in GSC Midvalley, and Penang Gurney Plaza till 6th February 2008.
