"It was raining the whole time."

MALAYSIAN GODS is shot in one continuous take. The total duration of the take is 57 minutes. The total duration of the movie is 61 minutes (including credits and an audio-only segment).

Out of the three days of shoot, I am choosing the one on Saturday, 2 June, which started at 5:30pm. It was raining the whole time, and it reached its peak when we reached our final location.

The next few weeks will be spent on the script, voice-over and graphics that will accompany this continuous image :-)

Check out some images from the shoot, as seen by Danny Lim.

On 20 September 1998 Anwar Ibrahim, recently sacked as Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, headed a public rally of thousands of people that marched through Kuala Lumpur while demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister, his former mentor. The demonstrators ranged from 20,000 to 80,000 depending on who was doing the counting. A few hours later Anwar would be arrested.
