Tan Chui Mui always laugh when she is nervous.


Tan Chui Mui was born 9 OCT 1978 in Sungai Ular, a small fishing village in Kuantan, Malaysia.

She had been actively involved in the Malaysia independent film scene, working as producer, editor, script writer and ocassionally actress. In 2004, she set up Da Huang Pictures with Amir Muhammad, James Lee and Liew Seng Tat.

Her next film project "Living Quietly", received the French CNC Script Development Grant and will be produced by Philippe Avril from France. She was in the 14th session Cinefondation Cannes Residency to develop the script. she make a short film "Nobody's Girlfriend" before she left Paris, casting another two residences, Nadav Lapid and Rusudan Chkonia.

She is also working on another feature film project, "Waiting For Snow in Kuantan", a comedy, recently received Script Development Grant from Asian Cinema Fund.
