15 Jan Liew Seng Tat's award-winning indie film "Flower In The Pocket" is nearing the end of its run but not before bowing out with a bang by having a sponsored screening for 500 odd orphans and disabled children from various orphanages and charities.

The charity treat was held from Jan 2-13 at the GSC International Screens in Mid Valley, 1 Utama and Gurney Plaza. It was attended by orphans from House Of Joy, Rumah Charis, Rumah Kanak Kanak Angels, Rumah Kids, Beautiful Gate and Second Corinthians 517. Caretaker of Rumah Kanak Kanak Angels Belinda Chew said: "I quite enjoyed this movie, I feel that all Malaysians can identify with it. The kids have told me that they liked it a lot, I think they feel as if they're watching a movie that really has something to do with them."

According to publicist assistant Nikki Tok of Da Huang Pictures, the film, which chronicles the lives of two motherless brothers, has collected an approximate RM10,000 in box office takings since its release at the GSC International Screens back in December 2007.

The film had been awarded the New Currents Award and Audience Award in the recent Pusan International Film Festival 2007 in South Korea.

Flower in The Pocket

Li Ahh and Li Ohm grow up motherless. They are neglected by their father Sui, a workaholic who spends the bulk of his time mending broken mannequins in his workshop. While he shuts himself out from the world, the two brothers roam the streets, get into fights and other troubles in school but for all they want is just love and to be loved.
